Empower U: Learn to Access Your Disability Rights Training on Canadian Human Rights, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and its Optional Protocol (OP) training aims to increase awareness of how to address discrimination using more familiar Canadian human rights laws such as Human Rights Codes and the newer international Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). This is training for persons with disabilities by persons with disabilities. The training is part of a project funded by Employment and Social Development Canada and implemented by the Council of Canadians with Disabilities (CCD) in collaboration with Canadian Multicultural Disability Centre Inc. (CMDCI), Citizens With Disabilities – Ontario (CWDO), Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities (MLPD) and National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS). Read more.

The Council of Canadian with Disabilities (CCD) is seeking a Project Manager.
CCD is the lead organization on a multi-agency research collaborative, The Alliance, whose purpose is to consult Canadians on the Development of Federal Accessibility Legislation.
Summary:
The Project Manager will be based out of the CCD Ottawa office and will take direction from CCD’s National Coordinator. The Project Manager will work with and coordinate the activities of a number of sub committees, including; Stake Holder Engagement, Communications, and Evaluation. The Project Manager will be supported by a part-time Administrative Support position that resides in CCD’s Winnipeg Office
Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will provide leadership and coordination of the cross country consultation activities to Canadians with disabilities and those who support them; including engagement process and tool development; training of facilitators and interviewers; analysis and writing. The Project Manager will coordinate closely with an Evaluator and the Alliance members.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate is expected to possess the unique combination of complex organizational, facilitation, research, evaluation, critical thinking skills. Experience working with or knowledge of the disability community in Canada and understanding of the social model of disability and the application of a human rights approach is essential. Candidates must be bilingual.

End Date: March 31, 2018
Hours: Full Time
Salary Range: $60,000.00 - $72,000.00 annually
