Employment and Social Development Canada Sustainable Development Goal Unit Survey for Upcoming 2024 Events
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Unit at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) is interested in knowing about your virtual or in-person events related to the 2030 Agenda and its 17 SDGs that have a regional or national scope.
Whether you would like a Government official to participate in your events or simply make the SDG Unit aware of your upcoming events, we encourage you to share the information with us.
The survey of upcoming 2024 events is now open.
Why should you share your event information with us?
- Benefit from the SDG Unit’s vast stakeholder network to increase awareness and promote your event;
- Inform ESDC officials and create awareness on non-government perspectives related to the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs; and
- Have the opportunity for a Government official to participate or speak at your event and provide a unique perspective on the 2030 Agenda.
How to submit an event for participation or awareness?
You can provide your event information by completing the ESDC SDG Unit Survey for Upcoming Events Form. You may fill out one (1) form per event.
Given the high volume of forms expected, you may be contacted if there is interest from Government officials to participate or attend your event.
We are committed to providing an inclusive process. If you have little or no Internet access, experience barriers submitting your information, please contact Programme2030-2030Agenda@canada.gc.ca or call 1-873-455-6089.

Senior Resource Suggestion - 25 Steps for Estate Planning
My name is Charlie Baker. I came across the helpful information you shared for seniors at ccdonline.ca/en/blog/Phyllis-Fehr-29March2017 and was wondering if you are open to adding any other resources to that page.
Estate planning is essential for everyone, and it becomes even more important as we get older. Even though we understand no one enjoys planning on what happens to their estate after they are gone, we wanted to make a guide that lays out everything a person needs to know about the process. That's why we made a page called 25 Steps for Estate Planning, which highlights all the things people need to have in order during the process. Check it out:
25 Steps for Estate Planning - traviswalkerlaw.com/25-steps-for-estate-planning/
I think this could be a great resource for your readers! If you agree, would you consider sharing a link to it on your website? We put a ton of work into this, so I would love to hear what you think.
If you have any thoughts or questions about this, please let me know.
Have a wonderful day,
Charlie Baker

Statistics Canada’s Disaggregated Data Action Plan Achievements Report 2022-23
Today, Statistics Canada released its Disaggregated Data Action Plan Accomplishments Report 2022-2023: Building on a solid foundation.
The report showcases progress made in the second year of the plan’s implementation to support more representative data collection and enhanced statistics on Indigenous Peoples, racialized groups, women and persons with disabilities. Please share this information within your networks.
In the second year of implementation, Statistics Canada:
- Expanded disaggregated data assets with the launch of the Survey Series on People and their Communities.
- Provided new data sets for the Quality of Life Framework, the Labour Force Survey, and the Social Inclusion Framework.
- Increased analytical insights on the economic, social, and health experiences and outcomes of diverse groups in Canada. In 2022-2023, 46% of analytical products released by StatCan included disaggregated data.
- Enhanced access to disaggregated data. The Centre for Municipal and Local Data Hub, for example, provides a primary platform for municipal data users to access data at the level of geography most relevant to municipalities.
- Developed new statistical standards such as the sexual orientation of person, and a new Standards, data sources and methods webpage to improve the usability of the standards for users.
- Continued to engage and collaborate with partners, including the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police for the expansion of the Uniform Crime Reporting Survey, and worked directly with cities such as the City of Ottawa to upload information to the Statistics Canada Business Register.
We invite you to consult the new Disaggregated Data Action Plan Landing Page for more information.
This Wednesday, we also invite you to visit our website to read the next Survey Series on People and their Communities Daily release on concern with misinformation online.
Thank you,
Engagement and Data Services Division

IDRC Co-Research Activity Paid Opportunity (UPDATE)
We are inviting members of the disability community who are 18 years of age or older to participate in an upcoming online co-design research event. The co-design is expected to take 6 - 7 hours over 3 weeks. The honorarium for the event is $600 CAD.
Regulating the Digital Domain (RtDD) and the Review of the Review (RotR) projects are assisting Accessibility Standards Canada in developing standards development processes and activities that are accessible and inclusively designed.
Our goal is to review the approach to standards development from the preliminary stages through to public review and provide advice, guidance, and recommendations to improve inclusion and accessibility as well as foster co-development of the standards with communities most impacted by them.
Selected co-researchers who complete the research activities, will receive an honorarium of $600 by electronic funds transfer. A Canadian bank account is required to receive this payment.
If you are interested in being considered for the co-design, please apply at https://forms.office.com/r/hRWeqU5LtM
When will it happen?
Co-researchers must be able to attend three online sessions over three weeks, from 1:00-3:00 PM EST:
• Day 1: Tuesday, January 9, 2024
• Day 2: Tuesday, January 16, 2024
• Day 3: Tuesday, January 23, 2024
What will you do?
In this co-research activity, you will learn about the standards development process, play a collaborative game to develop a standard and then "hack" the game to make the standards development process more inclusive and accessible to the community.
Please share this invitation with anyone who would be interested.
Applications must be received before Friday, December 29, 2023, at 5 PM (EST).
Regards,
David Pereyra
