EVERY LEARNER MATTERS AND MATTERS EQUALLY. | JOIN UNESCO IN CELEBRATING INCLUSION IN EDUCATION!
The Salamanca Statement adopted and widely endorsed at the World Conference organized by UNESCO and the Ministry of Education and Science of Spain in Salamanca, Spain in 1994 established the fundamental principle of inclusion at school.
Thirty years on, poverty, geographical location, gender, language, disability, ethnicity, migration or displacement status and other factors continue to dictate and limit education opportunities.
The high-level policy dialogue will take place on 13 March 2024 from 2pm and will highlight efforts by governments and partner organizations to advance inclusive educational policies and practices.
The event will be followed by the Global Inclusive Schools’ Forum (14-15 March 2024), co-organized by UNESCO and the International Forums of Inclusion Practitioners (IFIP). Practitioners from different parts of the world will share experiences and promising and innovative inclusive practices that include all learners in quality and inclusive learning.
For in-person attendance, registration is required by 5 March 2024: Register here!
More information about the event can be found in the event webpage.

Recruitment of people with disabilities for VR accessibility research
We are a group of accessibility researchers from University of Wisconsin-Madison and Virginia Tech. We are conducting research to support inclusive avatar representation for people with disabilities in social VR. We are reaching out to see if you could help us spread out the word and recruit participants.
We specify our study details below:
Participants will have a 45-min phone survey with us and reflect on their avatar preferences on social VR platforms. We will offer a compensation of $25 for all participants who completed the study. This study is fully remote.
Eligibility:
Participant must:
Be at least 18 years old;
Have at least one disability, including but not limited to visual impairments, deaf and hard of hearing, motor disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism, etc;
Have experience with avatars in digital social platforms.
To Participate:
If you are someone with disabilities and you are interested in participating in this study, please fill out this interest form (https://uwmadison.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bw1IPmjIj4WvJjw). We will contact you shortly if you are eligible to participate in the study.
We respect your time and value the contributions your organization has made to the community of people with disabilities. We would be greatly appreciated if you can forward this message to the community. This research would further improve the inclusiveness and digital accessibility of social VR platforms for this community. If you have any questions, please contact us at kzhang284@wisc.edu (Kexin Zhang). We look forward to hearing from you!
